PNP-AC/PA - Pediatric Cardiac ICU

Job Summary

Provide emergency stabilization and primary medical management for critically ill pediatric patients in the ICU. Collaborate with residents, fellows, attendings, and staff nurses to plan, implement, and evaluate medical and nursing care. Teach residents and medical students while conducting patient education and discharge planning with the discharge coordinator. Utilize approved medical practices to deliver care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, and safety criteria. Maintain inquiry into medical practices and patient care outcomes, adapting communication styles to specific patient populations. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and the Compliance & Privacy Program. Work flexible schedules including 24/7 coverage, weekends, holidays, and on-call availability.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Nursing (NP)
  • Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant medicine or Health Sciences, or graduate of an approved Physician Assistant Training Program (PA)
  • Current License as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the state of practice (NP)
  • Acute Care Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (CPNP-AC) certification (NP)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association / PALS (NP)
  • Eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Nursing (NP)
  • License as a Physician Assistant in the state of practice (PA)
  • NCCPA Certified (PA)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) / Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Certification from the American Heart Association / PALS (PA)
  • Eligible for Prescriptive Authority in the state of practice as outlined by the State Board of Medical Examiners (PA)
  • Computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of required job information
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally
  • Proficiency with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of Advanced Practice Provider policies and protocols at a department and campus/system level
  • Reliable transportation as must be able to travel throughout and between facilities
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability)
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, reach and grab with arms and hands, manual dexterity
