Job Summary
Provide and assist with personal care including dressing, bathing, oral care, and skin maintenance. Assist with ambulation, transfers, and administering bed, tub, or sitz baths while making occupied or unoccupied beds. Perform essential household services, prepare nutritional meals per physician's order, and assist clients with feeding. Record and report changes in client condition, family situation, or needs to the nurse administrator. Administer or observe self-administered medications, empty catheter bags, and assist with bedpans or urinals. Provide companionship, emotional support, and basic first aid while maintaining professional boundaries. Report to work with a clean, well-groomed appearance. Maintain professional boundaries with clients at all times. Complete other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Training, competence, qualification, and licensure to perform duties
- Ability to provide and assist with personal care (i.e., dressing, bathing, oral care, skin, nail, and hair)
- Ability to assist with ambulation and transfer with or without assertive/mechanical devices
- Ability to perform incidental household services that are essential to the client's care at home
- Ability to record and report changes in the client's condition, family situation or needs to the nurse administrator or appropriate authorities
- Ability to provide companionship and/or emotional support
- Ability to assist or administer bed or tub bath, basin, shower or sitz bath
- Ability to make an occupied or unoccupied bed
- Ability to assist with planning and preparing proper nutritional meals per physician's order while maintaining proper food handling
- Ability to prepare clients for mealtime and assist with feeding
- Ability to empty/record drainage of catheter bag, record intake
- Ability to assist clients with bedpan and/or urinal
- Ability to provide basic first aid
- Ability to observe, record, and report self-administered medications
- Ability to assist in organizing household items
- Ability to report to work with a clean, well-groomed appearance at all times
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients at all times
