Job Summary

Conduct clinical assessments, psychiatric workups, and treatment planning for patients with depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction. Manage common psychiatric medications and crisis situations via telehealth using our HIPAA-compliant EHR platform. Deliver initial consultations and follow-up visits while receiving support from dedicated care coordination teams for higher-level care requests. This independent contractor role allows you to set your own schedule and focus exclusively on patient care, with Rula handling all credentialing, billing, and marketing. You will be compensated per session with no-show protection and bi-weekly direct deposit.

Required Qualifications

  • An unrestricted license and valid DEA number registered in California
  • 1+ years as a psychiatric nurse practitioner with experience with mental health assessment, diagnosis, triage, managing common psychiatric medication and treatment plans, and managing crisis situations
  • Independent licensure and/or working with collaborating MD, as required by state law
  • Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  • Registration with state Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP)
  • No suspension/exclusion/debarment from participation in federal healthcare programs (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP)
  • No adverse actions by any nursing board, hospital or other credentialing body in the past 3 years
  • A master's or doctoral degree from an accredited university or graduate program in psychiatric mental health nursing
  • The ability to provide telehealth
  • 1+ years of post-licensure clinical experience as a PMHNP actively managing psychiatric patient panels
  • Experience with high-volume/high-acuity assessment, complex psychopharmacology management, direct crisis stabilization, and independent diagnostic decision-making
  • Active national board certification as a PMHNP through either the ANCC (PMHNP-BC) or AANPCB (PMHNP-C)
  • Active state Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) registration
  • Compliance with state collaborative agreement requirements (where applicable)
  • No adverse actions, disciplinary history, or license restrictions with any state nursing board, hospital, or credentialing body in the past 3 to 5 years
  • No suspension, exclusion, or debarment from federal healthcare programs (Medicare/Medicaid)
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality, evidence-based psychiatric care and safety planning
  • Comfortable and proficient delivering outpatient care via telehealth (including EMR navigation, virtual rapport building, and remote crisis management)
