Plumbing Superintendent

Job Summary

Supervise field crews, subcontractors, and craft activities on assigned commercial construction projects, including determining construction methods, manpower levels, and material quantities. Coordinate work across different crafts, departments, and external contractors while identifying and documenting potential change orders. Conduct weekly safety meetings, plan on-site functions, and perform material take-offs to maximize field productivity. Manage production controls, including scheduling, cost control, procurement, and quality assurance, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and project safety programs. Act as a liaison with engineering and estimating teams to resolve construction issues and implement corrective actions.

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in commercial plumbing field operations
  • Extensive knowledge of plumbing systems installation
  • Ability to successfully supervise large crews (20+)
  • Knowledge of other mechanical trade disciplines
  • Previous knowledge of man hour reports, job cost reports, workforce planning and estimating
  • Advanced understanding of construction cost control, forecasting and setting goals
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work across varied disciplines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to effectively present information to customers, clients and colleagues
  • OSHA 30 and CPR
  • Demonstrated knowledge of reading, interpreting and working to: Design drawings (isometric and orthographic), design guides, specifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Support Drawings and specifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Contract documents and site coordination of subcontractors
  • Must be able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills
  • Must adhere to all company policy and procedures
  • Must be available, and have the means to report to multiple job sites as assigned
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to correctly identify all colors of a color-coded cable/wires and see close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus

Desired Qualifications

  • 10 years' experience in a heavy mechanical construction environment
  • Prior military experience
