Job Summary
Lead the design of plumbing systems, including domestic water, sanitary waste, storm drainage, natural gas, and specialty piping for healthcare, laboratory, commercial, institutional, educational, and transportation facilities. Perform engineering calculations for pipe sizing, fixture unit loads, equipment selection, and system hydraulics while preparing construction documents, technical specifications, and design narratives. Develop AutoCAD and Revit drawings, coordinate designs with architects and multidisciplinary teams, and conduct site surveys for renovation and retrofit projects. Ensure compliance with local, state, and national plumbing codes, provide construction administration support including field observations and RFI responses, and mentor junior engineers. Participate in client meetings to deliver practical engineering solutions while maintaining project schedules and budgets.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline
- 5+ years of experience designing plumbing systems for commercial, healthcare, institutional, educational, or similar facilities
- Strong knowledge of domestic water, sanitary, storm, natural gas, and specialty plumbing systems
- Proficiency with AutoCAD
- Strong understanding of plumbing codes and industry standards
- Excellent communication, leadership, and project coordination skills
Desired Qualifications
- Revit experience preferred
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- Experience with LEED projects, sustainable design, or BIM coordination is a plus
