Job Summary
Plumbing Designer responsible for developing plumbing and piping system designs across schematic design to construction administration; support fire protection system design including wet-pipe sprinkler systems and fire pumps; produce detailed drawings using AutoCAD and Revit; coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and ownership teams; participate in project reviews, quality control processes, and construction coordination activities; conduct field observations and assist with construction administration efforts; interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents; evaluate new products, materials, energy-saving technologies, and cost-saving initiatives; support the development and implementation of engineering standards and best practices; travel to project sites.
Required Qualifications
- 3–10+ years of progressive experience in plumbing design, building systems engineering, or related disciplines
- Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, piping design, equipment selection, sizing, and layout
- Working knowledge of fire protection systems, including sprinkler systems and fire pumps
- Experience preparing construction documents and supporting field observation activities
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit required
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards including IPC, UPC, IBC, ASHRAE, and NFPA
- Proficiency with Bluebeam and Bluebeam Studio
- Strong Microsoft Office skills
- Excellent organizational, communication, and technical documentation abilities
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams
- Willingness to travel to project sites, industry events, and training opportunities as needed
