Job Summary
Review work requests and interpret blueprints to determine materials and equipment for plumbing projects. Install, test, maintain, and repair pipe and plumbing systems using methods such as bolting, soldering, and cementing. Perform preventative maintenance on steam and heating systems, including repairing, replacing, or installing equipment and extending piping systems. Install and repair medical gas lines, compressed air, and natural gas systems while inspecting cross connection control devices. Ensure compliance with plumbing codes and safety policies by directing plant safety and reporting hazards. Maintain inventory of supplies, complete repair records, and log test calculations.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Plumber, Class B level Gas Fitter's Licence with an electrical endorsement recognized by the Province of BC
- Two years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to deal with others effectively
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications
- Ability to organize work
- Ability to operate related equipment
