Job Summary
Diagnose plumbing failures, determine repair needs, and install or replace valves, pipes, and fittings for residential systems. Execute maintenance and repairs on water and gas components, test for leaks using compressed air or water, and replace washers or clear clogged drains. Manage vehicle inventory by checking stock, placing orders, and verifying receipts while maintaining operational tools and safety equipment. Lead apprentices, coordinate with other trades, and communicate effectively with homeowners to ensure work meets high-quality standards and local codes. Requires a valid driver's license, flexible hours including weekends and emergencies, and a Journeyman Plumbing License.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair of residential and commercial systems
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, technical drawings, and job specifications
- Expertise in installing, maintaining, and repairing water, gas, and sewage systems
- Familiarity with local and state plumbing codes and regulations
- Experience with various tools and equipment, such as pipe cutters, threaders, and soldering tools
- Ability to diagnose complex plumbing issues and recommend effective solutions
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with customers, team members, and supervisors
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials, working in confined spaces, and handling tools for extended periods
- In-depth knowledge of safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment
- Proven track record of delivering excellent customer service, with a focus on professionalism and customer satisfaction
- Basic knowledge of mobile apps and work management software to track tasks and report on job progress
- Ability to lead apprentices, work well within a team, and coordinate with other trades on larger projects
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and emergency calls, as needed
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Lifting 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally
- Ability to drive
- Ability to stand, walk and sit; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone
- Use hands to handle or feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms
- Regularly stoop, kneel, bend, and crouch
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the job with reasonable accommodations
Desired Qualifications
- Active and valid Journeyman Plumbing License
- Additional certifications such as backflow prevention, and gas piping
