Job Summary
Maintain, repair, or upgrade all facility plumbing systems, including installing and replacing pipes, fixtures, valves, and gas lines. Cut openings in walls and floors, assemble metal and nonmetal piping, and install backflow preventers while testing gas pressures with manometers. Cuts and threads pipe using power and hand tools, opens clogged drains, and studies building plans to determine installation sequences. Inspects structures to avoid obstructions and follows established safety procedures and housekeeping practices. Works from blueprints and verbal instructions, assists other trades, and keeps the supervisor apprised of unique situations. Requires five years of journeyman experience, valid driver's license, and backflow tester certification for this contract site at the IRS Building in Memphis.
Required Qualifications
- Five years' experience at journeyman plumbing level
- General knowledge of hand and power tools
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Valid state driver's license
- Must be able to obtain backflow tester's certification
- Valid Plumbers Journeyman's Certification or comparable experience
- Must be able to pass all required background checks necessary to obtain and sustain clearance to a secure federal facility
