Job Summary
Assist Journeyperson Plumber in all aspects of plumbing trade, maintaining shop machinery, tools, and reading/interpreting blueprints. Gain knowledge and experience during the apprentice training period with the goal of being classified as a Journeyperson upon successful completion. This is a benefits-eligible, union position at Cornell. Starting pay is $22.95 per hour, with variations by apprentice year. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent, mechanical aptitude for equipment repair and maintenance, verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work in a team. Must belong to the local Plumbers and Steamfitters Union or join within 30 days after starting. Valid US driver’s license required; travel to job sites may be needed. Ability to work overtime, including weekends; ability to ascend/descend heights, climb stairs and ladders; ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds; may be required to wear safety equipment (e.g., respirator). Relocation assistance is not provided.
