Job Summary
Develop, write, modify, and debug PLC programs using Boolean logic, ladder logic, structured text, and function block diagrams to control injection molding, blow molding, robotic systems, and auxiliary automation. Create and modify HMI screens, implement safety circuits and interlocks, and diagnose complex equipment failures by analyzing PLC I/O and control programs. Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, calibrate sensors and VFDs, and read electrical schematics to support troubleshooting and repair activities. Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and production teams to minimize downtime, optimize equipment performance, and assist with new equipment installation and commissioning. Document all modifications and repairs in internal tracking systems.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years experience programming, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLC systems in a manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated proficiency in Boolean logic, including the ability to construct, evaluate, and debug expressions, truth tables, and logic gate configurations as applied to industrial control systems
- Experience reading, writing, and modifying ladder logic programs
- Experience with at least 1 PLC platform: Allen-Bradley, Rockwell, Siemens, Omron etc
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams, mechanical drawings, and blueprints
- Experience working with industrial electrical systems (110V, 220V, 480V)
- Strong understanding of industrial automation components, including sensors, proximity switches, motor controllers, VFDs, relays, contactors, and safety circuits
- Experience with HMI configuration and troubleshooting
- Ability to work independently & collaboratively in a manufacturing environment
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a logical approach to troubleshooting
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Technical certification or Associate degree in Industrial Automation, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, or related field
- Experience in plastic injection molding or blow molding manufacturing environments
- Experience with robotic integration and programming (Fanuc, Wittmann, Sepro, Yushin, or similar)
- Knowledge of SCADA/MES systems & industrial networking protocols (EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus)
- Experience supporting new equipment commissioning and production launch activities
- Hydraulic and pneumatic system troubleshooting experience
- Experience with Sysmac Studio
