PLC/Controls Technician--1st Shift

Job Summary
Troubleshoot, repair, and optimize extrusion press control systems, billet heaters, and handling automation while maintaining and updating Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC programs. Calibrate sensors, troubleshoot pressure instrumentation, and inspect electrical components including motor starters and VFDs. Diagnose issues with PLCs, HMIs, and drive systems, and implement safety improvements to machine guarding and interlock systems. Document program changes and support PM/PdM activities to ensure reliability of critical automation components. Work with maintenance, production, and engineering teams to improve process consistency and reduce downtime.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5+ years of experience in industrial controls, automation, or electrical maintenance
- Strong working knowledge of PLCs (Allen‐Bradley, Siemens, Omron, etc.)
- Experience with HMIs, VFDs, servo drives, and industrial networks
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and wiring diagrams
- Strong troubleshooting skills, especially under production pressure
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly across departments
