Job Summary
Supervise students on the playground and in the lunchroom, maintaining a safe and orderly environment; enforce rules, monitor equipment for safety, and treat minor injuries with basic first aid. Assist in dining room cleaning and setup. Support the relationship between the Minot Public School District and the general public by demonstrating courteous behavior with visitors and staff while maintaining confidentiality of records and following child abuse compliance rules. Under basic supervision, assist MPS students in school classrooms with educational programs and special assignments, providing support to Teachers as needed to foster a positive learning environment. Conduct exercises and monitor students during small group sessions to help achieve learning objectives. Assist with Individualized Education Programs (IEP), development of lesson plans, and preparation of classroom materials. Monitor student behavior, document special issues, and report disciplinary incidents to Teachers or Principals.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Associate's Degree
- one year of experience working with children
- High school diploma and Paraprofessional certification from North Dakota Department of Public Instruction
- equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Must pass a thorough background investigation
- Paraprofessional certification from North Dakota Department of Public Instruction
- Crisis Prevention intervention [CPI] training and certification
- A valid North Dakota State Driver's License
Desired Qualifications
