Job Summary

Lead weekly Play & Learn groups for children ages 5 and under in community-based settings, delivering interactive, developmentally appropriate sessions that promote school readiness. Set up and clean meeting spaces per safety protocols, then plan and facilitate activities including bilingual storytime, creative play, and caregiver coaching. Collaborate with coordinators to align with program goals, track attendance, document engagement, and support reporting. Engage with families to share resources and make referrals while navigating local community resources. Work flexible schedules averaging up to 12 hours weekly across Seattle Public Library branches, utilizing a personal vehicle for travel. Earn STARS credits toward professional development in early childhood education.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Washington State driver's license
  • Daily access to a personal, legally licensed vehicle with proof of current automobile insurance or access to reliable source of transportation
  • Ability to lift and transport materials up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to kneel, bend, sit on the floor
  • Ability to work both indoors and outdoors
  • Compliance with state vaccination guidelines including MMR, COVID, and provision of a negative TB test (within the last 12 months) or an x-ray
  • Pre-employment physical
  • Medical or religious exemptions (if approved, weekly testing will be required)
  • Employment or volunteer service at Denise Louie Education Center conditioned on a criminal background check
  • Ability to work a regular but flexible schedule
  • Ability to attend Kaleidoscope Play & Learn and DLEC's trainings as needed
  • Computer proficiency and knowledge of basic office equipment
  • Ability to facilitate sessions both in-person and virtually
  • Ability to pivot quickly and adjust plans to meet group needs while staying aligned with curriculum goals

Desired Qualifications

  • Bilingual in a language spoken by DLEC parents; Chinese, Vietnamese, Spanish or African language preferred
