Platform Engineer (TS/SCI)

Job Summary
Senior Platform Engineer to support NGA/DIE, delivering expert systems engineering across NSG/ASG and Federal partners; lead engineering teams, guide architecture decisions, and advise government leadership on requirements and emerging technologies. Responsibilities include requirements engineering, solutions engineering, scheduling, reliability, resiliency, services development, system integration, test and evaluation, and maintainability analyses; analyze cloud service capabilities, workflows, and constraints; lead AoAs/CoAs and trade studies; manage risk registers and regulatory compliance; translate mission needs into system requirements; oversee integration of AI/ML across programs; coordinate with Senior-, Mid-, and Junior-level contractor engineers; provide strategic technical planning, risk management, and interface design across SDLC and DevSecOps efforts; demonstrate expertise in secure software development, cloud environments, and government processes (SWAP/ATO); and drive cross-program AI/ML integration within NGA, DIE, IC.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in systems engineering and 15+ years of experience or Bachelor’s Degree and 18+ years of experience in related technical or scientific fields
- Expert level experience in government or industry in DoD/IC Acquisition Process, Requirements Process, PPBES Process or system engineering of large complex System of Systems or SOA/Cloud environments
- Experience with systems engineering lifecycle
- CI/CD workflows with secure software development
- One to two years of experience applying Python, JAVA, JavaScript or similar languages for full stack development
- Experience with government Security Approval process (e.g., SWAP, ATO)
- Experience with SAFe or other Agile frameworks
- Demonstrated leadership overseeing multiple levels of engineers
- Ability to translate mission/customer needs into system requirements
- Experience in AI/ML integration and cloud-based architectures
- Knowledge of NGA, NSG/ASG, and related DIE/IC enterprises
- Experience with risk management and technical planning
- Experience in analysis of alternatives (AoAs) and trade studies
- Strong communication and advisory skills to government leadership
Desired Qualifications
- Doctorate in Systems Engineering or related STEM fields
- INCOSE Expert System Engineering Professional (ESEP) certification
- Licensure as a professional engineer
- Experience with Cloud-based technologies
- Experience with structured and unstructured Big Data
- Experience engineering solutions using Automation, Augmentation and Artificial Intelligence technologies
- Experience with AI/ML across programs (GEOINT/DIE/IC)
- Software Development Framework certification
- Membership or leadership in professional organizations (ACSM, ASCE, ASPRS, OGC, SAREM, USGIF)
- Experience in geospatial intelligence or related domains
- Experience in DoD/IC environments
- SAFE (Scaled Agile Framework) experience
- Python, JAVA, JavaScript or similar languages
- CI/CD workflows
- Security Approval processes (e.g., SWAP, ATO)
- System-of-Systems and Service-Oriented Architecture/Cloud environments
- Strategic technical planning and risk management
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
- Cloud and DEVSECOPS expertise
- Strong leadership and coordination across multiple engineering teams
- Experience with requirements engineering and traceability
