Platform Engineer

Job Summary
Platform Engineer for DevOps Platform team focused on building and supporting DevOps platforms to enable engineering squads. Responsibilities include evaluation, automation, and administration of DevOps tools; developing and maintaining pipeline automation scripts; supporting DevOps tooling platforms with on-call rotation; collaborating with product managers, software engineers, and operations engineers to uncover pain points and deliver platform solutions; leading investigative spikes to mitigate technical uncertainty and risk; helping develop and improve standards, practices, and methodologies; refining the Product Backlog with the Technical Product Owner and participating in Look Ahead meetings; mentoring other platform engineers; and ensuring production reliability and measurement through logging, monitoring, and automated insights. Working hours overlap Canada Eastern Time.
Required Qualifications
- Platform technical delivery services (3 to 5 years)
- Advanced knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes clusters (Azure Kubernetes Service knowledge is a plus)
- Experience with Public/Private/Hybrid cloud architecture (PaaS), preferably Azure, AKS, Azure SQL
- Knowledge or experience with SCM tools and best practices (GIT, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Artifactory, SonarQube, Snyk, GitGuardian)
- Knowledge of Configuration Management tools (Chef, Ansible)
- Experience with OS platforms such as Linux, Unix and Windows
- Experience with scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell
- Experience with networking protocols TCP, UDP, HTTP and security protocols such as SFTP, HTTPS, TLS
- Experience with Platform monitoring and continuous improvement
- Experience administering web server technologies (Apache, WebLogic, Nginx)
- Experience with Database Technologies (MS SQL, Oracle, DB2) and query languages (PSQL, TSQL)
- Experience with Agile and Lean solution delivery models and tools
