Job Summary
Platform Engineer with strong Sybase ASE database administration expertise for banking workloads. Responsible for administering, maintaining, and supporting Sybase ASE environments, performing installation/configuration/patching, monitoring performance, capacity planning, backup/recovery, disaster recovery, high-availability configurations, and security controls. Collaborates with application, infrastructure, middleware, and security teams; includes automation scripting and secondary support for Microsoft SQL Server. Requires hands-on experience in enterprise-scale Sybase environments within regulated financial contexts and 6+ years in database engineering/administration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Minimum 6+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Engineer, Database Administrator, or Platform Engineer
- Strong expertise in Sybase ASE database administration, configuration, and performance tuning
- Experience managing production Sybase environments in banking, financial services, or other mission-critical industries
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server administration and support
- Experience with database backup, recovery, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes
- Experience with SQL query optimization, indexing, execution plan analysis, and performance troubleshooting
- Experience with high-availability, replication, clustering, and failover architectures
- Knowledge of database security, access controls, encryption, and compliance requirements
- Unix/Linux experience and scripting (Shell/Korn/PowerShell)
- Experience with database monitoring and performance management tools
- Familiarity with ITIL processes (preferred)
- Experience with Temenos applications (preferred)
- Understanding of banking/treasury/payments domains (preferred)
- Certifications in Sybase/SQL Server/ITIL (advantageous)
