Platform Engineer

Job Summary
Operate and continuously improve the cloud-based data platform with a primary focus on Snowflake, administering environments including security, RBAC, and resource optimization. Build automation to enhance reliability and scalability, designing CI/CD pipelines for database deployments using GitLab and scripting with Python, SQL, or Bash. Monitor platform health, performance, and cost while troubleshooting production issues across ETL/ELT pipelines, Kafka, and cloud infrastructure. Participate in an on-call rotation to respond to critical incidents, perform root cause analysis, and implement permanent fixes. Partner with Data Engineering and Infrastructure teams to deliver reliable services and promote automation-first operational practices.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Data Platform Operations
- Strong hands-on experience administering and supporting Snowflake
- Designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines for database or platform deployments
- Working with AWS and/or Azure cloud platforms
- Supporting ETL/ELT pipelines and streaming technologies such as Confluent Kafka
- Strong scripting skills using Python, SQL, Bash, or similar languages
- Experience with Git-based development workflows
- Supporting production systems in an on-call or operational support environment
- Strong troubleshooting skills across cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and production environments

- Workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow
- Serverless and event-driven architectures
- Cloud monitoring, observability, and cost optimization tools
