Job Summary
Platform Engineer (Encryption & Data Security) is responsible for designing, building, and operating platform capabilities that ensure secure data handling across the organization, focusing on encryption, certificate lifecycle management, and data classification/labeling to enable development teams to securely build and operate services by default. Responsibilities include designing and operating end-to-end encryption strategies (service-to-service, data at rest, data in transit), developing and managing infrastructure as code with GitOps, managing and optimizing AWS infrastructure for scalability and security, collaborating with development teams, participating in on-call rotations, monitoring and troubleshooting across infrastructure, networks, and applications, and implementing best practices for security, reliability, and performance. Required qualifications emphasize TLS/PKI, encryption fundamentals, platform/SRE experience, programming proficiency, IaC tooling, deep AWS expertise (EC2, S3, VPC, EKS, ALB/ELB, Transit Gateway), Linux and network security, GitOps, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and familiarity with regulatory frameworks.
Required Qualifications
- Design, implement, and maintain secure infrastructure services supporting multiple development teams
- Design and operate end-to-end encryption strategies (service-to-service, data at rest, data in transit)
- Develop and manage infrastructure as code using GitOps principles
- Manage and optimize AWS cloud infrastructure for scalability, reliability, and security
- Collaborate with development teams for integration and operations
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across infrastructure, networks, and applications
- Implement and maintain best practices for security, reliability, and performance
- Strong understanding of TLS, PKI, and certificate chains
- Encryption fundamentals (symmetric/asymmetric, key rotation)
- Experience with platform engineering or site reliability engineering
- Proficiency in at least one programming language
- Experience with at least one Infrastructure as Code tool
- Deep expertise in AWS (EC2, S3, VPC, EKS, ALB/ELB, Transit Gateway)
- Strong Linux engineering skills (networking, storage, OS)
- Understanding of network security fundamentals and CDNs
- Experience deploying/infrastructure via GitOps pipelines
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Familiarity with compliant/regulatory frameworks (CMMC, FedRAMP is a plus)
- Knowledge of Go or Java
- Experience with distributed systems and messaging (RabbitMQ, Kafka)
- Understanding of cloud security best practices
- Knowledge of microservices architectures
