Platform Engineer (Encryption & Data Security)

Job Summary
Platform Engineer focused on encryption and data security responsible for designing, building, and operating secure platform capabilities across multiple development teams. Responsibilities include implementing end-to-end encryption strategies (data at rest and in transit, service-to-service), certificate lifecycle management, data classification/labeling, and building scalable, secure AWS infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code and GitOps. Collaborates with development teams to ensure secure by default services, participates in on-call rotations, monitors and resolves issues across infrastructure, networks, and applications, and adheres to best practices for security, reliability, and performance. Preferred qualifications include compliance exposure (CMMC, FedRAMP), additional programming languages (Go/Java), distributed systems experience, and familiarity with messaging systems such as RabbitMQ or Kafka.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with AWS core services (EC2, S3, VPC, EKS, ALB/ELB, Transit Gateway)
- Strong Linux engineering, networking, storage, and OS fundamentals
- TLS, PKI and certificate chains
- Encryption fundamentals (symmetric/asymmetric, key rotation)
- Infrastructure as Code with GitOps
- Experience deploying/infrastructure through GitOps pipelines
- On-call rotations and incident response
- Excellent written and verbal communication
