Plastics Processing Development Engineer

Job Summary
Qualify new feedstocks and technologies through third-party processing and Eastman equipment while managing trials on manufacturing assets. Partner with manufacturing to ensure safe handling and efficient processing into the Methanolysis process, and collaborate with procurement to understand market dynamics and supplier questions. Drive improvement and technology demonstration projects by justifying, scoping, and executing capital projects alongside feedstock technical leaders. This role supports Eastman's circular economy initiative by revolutionizing materials for infinite life using carbon and polyester renewal technologies. The position reports to the GL of Mixed Plastics Processing (MPP) Development and focuses on process growth and stewardship within the transportation, building, and construction end markets.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience
- Ability to make decisions with limited information
- Demonstrated project management skills
- Must be a self-starter with a focus on results
- Ability to lead and drive challenging projects forward despite uncertainties
- Confident in working within a matrixed environment with multiple stakeholders
- Comfortable challenging peers and supervision to develop creative solutions
- Excellent written, listening, and verbal communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering degree
- 1+ years of direct manufacturing support
- Ability to engage with external parties, suppliers, customers, etc.
- High level of adaptability
- Comfortable with giving external presentations
