Job Summary
Toyota Manufacturing Indiana is seeking a Plastics Pilot Engineer to lead the new product development and launch of plastics components in a manufacturing environment. The role requires a BS in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering (or Engineering Technology), strong CAD/CAE and tolerancing skills, and excellent project management with cross-functional collaboration. Travel up to 25% is required; visa sponsorship is not provided. The position emphasizes design-to-SOP execution, process setup, and deployment of Quality Control Plans in support of timely model launches.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering / Engineering Technology
- Proficiency with digital engineering tools (CAD, CAE, FEA, PFMEA, Virtual Simulation, 3D Measurement) to analyze a product pre-production
- Strong tolerancing and assembly skills
- Process layouts and setup for new or modified products
- Equipment/Tooling specification, procurement, and commissioning as required for each project
- Quality Control Plan development and deployment including training of affected team members
- Excellent project management skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%
- Valid driver's license and motor vehicle record acceptable by company standards
- Ability to interface across multifunctional teams (Contractors / Skilled trades / PE / Quality)
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with sub-assembly process development or improvement (bonus)
- Experience with tensor tools and torque management
- Catia / XVL / PolyWorks / FARO experience
- Experience with Toyota Human Design Standards / Ergo Guidelines
- Injection molding and/or paint application experience
- Experience with new equipment installation from specification creation through commissioning and SOP
Additional Requirements
