Job Summary
As a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife/Takeda, you will determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable results within a plasma center setting. You will operate under the Center Manager's guidance and the Center Physician for medical issues, adhering to SOPs and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include conducting informed consent and AIDS education, performing or coordinating physical examinations and blood testing, evaluating donor reactions, facilitating donor safety and transport to care when needed, supporting vaccination programs, and assisting with environmental, health and safety matters. You will contribute to center operations, maintain center-level medical guidance, and participate in training as required. Qualifications include a state-licensed RN/NP/PA, CPR/AED certification, basic IV therapy requirements, FDA training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist, and at least two years of clinical or hospital experience. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate nursing program with state requirements
- Current RN/NP/PA license in the state of responsibilities
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
- Knowledge of regulations in the plasma collection industry or manufacturing environment
- Ability to manage donor eligibility and adverse events
- Familiarity with informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and SPE review
- Ability to refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical or technical guidance
