Job Summary
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife/Takeda performs donor eligibility assessment, manages donor adverse events, reviews lab test results (SPE), and notifies donors of unsuitable results. Reports to Center Manager; works under Center Physician for medical issues; familiar with plasma collection regulations and environmental, health and safety guidance; contributes to vaccination programs for employees and supports emergency/occupational health responses. Responsibilities include donor interviews, medical history, informed consent, physical examination, blood testing, and adherence to SOPs for donor safety and center operations, with coordination to refer complex findings to medical leadership. Requires EMT-Paramedic license, CPR/AED, and state licensure compliance; typically a clinical role within a plasma center environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic
- CPR and AED certification
- Basic IV therapy state requirements
- FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
