Job Summary
Determine donor eligibility through medical history interviews, physical examinations, and blood testing while managing informed consent and confidential self-exclusion. Evaluate donor reactions and adverse events per SOPs, including developing standing orders for medical emergencies and coordinating transport to emergency care. Review laboratory test results and notify donors of unsuitable findings, referring to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on medical or technical issues. Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs, manage employee incidents requiring occupational health evaluation, and act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized to investigate community threats.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA)
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
