Job Summary
Determine donor eligibility through informed consent, medical history interviews, physical examinations, and blood testing while managing adverse events and reviewing laboratory results. Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs, coordinate medical emergencies with the Center Physician, and manage employee incidents and occupational health evaluations. Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs, maintain environmental and health safety compliance, and act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized. This role requires a licensed LPN or LVN with two years of clinical experience, located in Tallahassee, FL, with an hourly wage of $23.04 to $31.68.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
- Familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment
- Ability to determine donor eligibility to donate plasma
- Ability to manage donor adverse events
- Ability to review of laboratory test results
- Ability to notify donors of unsuitable test results
- Ability to manage informed consent
- Ability to conduct AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion
- Ability to conduct medical history interview and acceptance requirements
- Ability to conduct physical examination
- Ability to review Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE)
- Ability to evaluate donor reaction(s)
- Ability to follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies
- Ability to develop Center Physician's standing orders
- Ability to transport donors to emergency care facilities
- Ability to refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings
- Ability to provide guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility
- Ability to support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees
- Ability to manage employee incidents
- Ability to determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER
- Ability to refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents
- Ability to be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS
- Ability to support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community
