Job Summary
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) performs donor eligibility assessments, manages donor adverse events, reviews lab test results, and notifies donors of unsuitable results. Reports to the Plasma Center Manager and Center Physician; role supports center operations, ensures donor safety, and adheres to regulatory guidance and EHS. Requires licensure as RN/NP/PA, CPR/AED, IV therapy training, and two years clinical or hospital experience; responsibilities include informed consent processes, donor screening, physical examinations, blood testing review, and coordination with medical leadership to address medical issues in a high-volume plasma center.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program with state requirements
- Current license/certification in the state of responsibilities: RN, NP, or PA
- CPR and AED certification
- Meet state requirements for basic IV therapy
- FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
