Job Summary
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) role involves determining donor eligibility through medical history interviews, informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, physical examinations, and review of serological tests (SPE). You will evaluate donor reactions, manage medical emergencies per SOPs, and coordinate with Center Physician for medical issues, with guidance from BioLife Medical Affairs and EHS. The position supports vaccination programs for staff, manages occupational health incidents, and may serve as Pandemic Coordinator as authorized. This role requires current LPN/LVN licensure, CPR/AED, and state-specific IV therapy requirements, with at least two years of clinical/hospital experience; reporting to the Center Manager and working within BioLife/Takeda’s framework.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Licensed Vocated Nurse (LVN) license/certification in the state of responsibilities
- CPR and AED certification (current)
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years of clinical or hospital experience
