Job Summary
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) responsible for determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable results. Duties include conducting informed consent discussions, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, performing medical history interviews, physical examinations, blood testing review (SPE), evaluating donor reactions, and coordinating donor transport for emergencies. Works under the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager) and Center Physician, follows SOPs, supports EHS and vaccination programs, and may serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized. Requires state nursing licensure (LPN/LVN), CPR/AED certification, and FDA-approved BioLife training; minimum two years in a clinical/hospital setting. Salary range shown reflects local Texas pay for Dallas facility; includes comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent nursing program
- Currently licensed or certified in TX as LPN or LVN
- CPR and AED certification
- Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
- SPE review and donor eligibility assessment
- Proper management of informed consent and AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion
- Ability to manage donor adverse events and medical issues under physician guidance
