Job Summary
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) role requires determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory results, and notifying donors of unsuitable results. You will work under the Center Manager and Center Physician, ensure compliance with plasma collection regulations, and support environmental, health and safety programs. Responsibilities include obtaining informed consent, conducting medical history interviews and physical examinations, performing blood testing review (SPE), evaluating donor reactions, coordinating donor transport in emergencies, and supporting vaccination programs for staff. Expect nursing duties consistent with LPN/LVN scope, including basic IV therapy and adherence to SOPs.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN
- Current CPR and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
