Job Summary
Perform as Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results (including SPE), and notify donors of unsuitable results. Operate under the Center Manager and Center Physician guidance, ensure compliance with plasma collection regulations, support EHS programs, and participate in vaccination initiatives. Responsibilities include conducting informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interviews, physical exams, blood testing, and reviewing SPE; evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for emergencies, center physician standing orders, donor transport to emergency care facilities, and escalation to Medical Affairs as needed. Role requires familiarity with regulatory requirements, ability to coordinate with EHS and Medical Affairs, and potential duties as Pandemic Coordinator. The position is based in Beaumont, TX, and is part-time with hourly wages in a defined range.",
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- EMT-Paramedic license
- CPR and AED certification
- Basic IV therapy requirements
- FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
