Job Summary
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services (a Takeda subsidiary) performs donor eligibility assessments, manages donor adverse events, reviews laboratory results (including SPE), and notifies donors of unsuitable test results. Reports to the Center Manager and Center Physician for medical issues; ensures adherence to SOPs, EHS guidance, and vaccination programs for employees. Requires EMT-Paramedic licensure, CPR/AED, and basic IV therapy; works in a clinical/hospital setting with prior clinical experience. Responsibilities include donor consent, AIDS education, confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview, physical exam, blood testing, donor safety, and coordination with medical staff for emergencies and standing orders.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Licensed EMT-Paramedic
- CPR and AED certification
- State requirements for basic IV therapy
- FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Satisfactory completion of clinical experience
- 2 years in a clinical or hospital setting
