Job Summary
Determine donor eligibility through medical history interviews, physical examinations, and blood testing while managing informed consent and self-exclusion protocols. Evaluate donor reactions and administer emergency care per SOPs, including transport to facilities when adverse events occur. Review laboratory results and notify donors of unsuitable findings, referring complex medical or technical issues to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs. Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs, manage employee incidents, and coordinate pandemic investigations as authorized. Requires current EMT-B or higher certification, state IV therapy license, and two years of clinical experience. Located in Elkhart, IN, with an hourly wage range of $20.00 to $29.26.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: Emergency Medical Technician -Basic (EMT-B), Advanced (EMT-A), Intermediate (EMT-I), and Paramedic (EMT-P), Licensed Practical Nurse / Licensed Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN), and Registered Nurse (RN)
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
