Job Summary
Operate all plant processing equipment and perform routine maintenance, basic repair, and cleaning in a highly automated chemical facility. Maintain knowledge of process flow, computerized equipment, and hazards while executing standard operating procedures. Safely perform basic electrical troubleshooting, follow plant start-up, shut-down, and batching procedures, and maintain accurate logs. Collect quality control samples, interpret results, and enter data into the PI system to optimize operations. Assist in removal, installation, and rebuild of preventive and predictive maintenance tasks. Adhere to a rotating 12-hour shift schedule (Days 7 AM-7 PM & Nights 7 PM-7 AM) including weekends and holidays. Work on-site in Fairbank, IA, wearing required PPE and operating equipment such as forklifts and lifts.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Plant Technician I: experience in a production environment preferred
- Plant Technician II: Documented successful performance as a Plant Technician I or equivalent work experience required
- Plant Technician III: Documented proficiency in the skills listed in the Plant Technician III Skills Checklist
- Working knowledge in math, reading comprehension and mechanical reasoning
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Experience with software systems, such as Maximo, preferred
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills

- Must be able to work at extreme heights (approximately 150 ft), in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees Fahrenheit, both indoors and outdoors
- Must be able to sit in a chair in the Control Room while operating the plant
- Must be able to walk indoors and outdoors sometimes over rough, uneven, or wet/slick surfaces
- Must be able to carry to up to 15lbs
- Must be able to climb stairs and/or ladders
- Must be able to stand indoors to clean and maintain areas
- Must be able to reach at arm's length to gather samples
- Must be able to be in awkward back, shoulder, wrists, and hand positions
- Must be able to use coordination and grip, with a force of up to 50lbs
- Must be able to bend while standing
- Must be able to use repetitive arm motions to wipe down and maintain work area
- Must be able to climb in and out of Powered Industrial Vehicles
- Must be able to lift up to 50lbs, with or without assistance
- Must be able to carry up to 40 lbs, with or without assistance
- Must be able to push with a force of 10lbs, with or without assistance
- Must be able to pull with a force of up to 85lbs, with or without assistance
- Must be able to bend, twist, turn, kneel, and crouch, while holding light and medium weighted objects
- Must be able to help other roles that have their own unique set of physical requirements
- Must be subject to a physical and expected to pass a drug screen during the pre-screen process
- Must be subject to random drug and alcohol testing during employment
- Must be able to adapt to 12-hour workdays

- Must be able to operate the DCS (Distributed Control System) for the plant
- Must be able to safely perform basic electrical troubleshooting
- Must be able to follow procedures for plant start-up, shut-down, cleaning, and batching
- Must be able to maintain accurate and timely logs
- Must be able to collect and test quality control samples
- Must be able to interpret QA/QC results
- Must be able to make adjustments to optimize plant operations
- Must be able to timely and accurately document results

- Must be able to assist in removal, installation, rebuild, and performance of preventive and predictive maintenance on all equipment associated with plant processes
- Must be able to follow the sanitation schedule and complete all tasks as assigned
- Must be able to notify the management team of safety, environmental, quality and production concerns, problems and opportunities
