Plant Superintendent

Job Summary
Oversee daily plant operations in a chemical manufacturing environment, leading shift supervisors and production personnel to ensure safety, quality, and environmental compliance while driving efficiency. Responsibilities include staffing, scheduling, coaching, disciplinary actions, and succession planning; maintaining OSHA/EPA/DOT/PSM compliance; safe handling and disposal of chemical materials; driving continuous improvement to boost productivity and reduce waste; monitoring KPIs (throughput, scrap, labor efficiency, OEE); conducting root cause investigations and implementing corrective actions; training staff on safety procedures, 5S, and best practices; collaborating with Plant Manager to implement operational, safety, quality, and training programs; supporting inventory management and material flow; maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment; and performing other duties as assigned. Education includes a high school diploma or GED with a bachelor’s degree preferred; 5+ years of supervisory experience in manufacturing and chemical processing experience preferred; union-experience is strongly preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 5+ years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required
- Chemical manufacturing experience preferred
- Working knowledge of manufacturing operations, safety regulations, and quality systems within a chemical processing environment preferred
- Prior experience leading in a union environment is strongly preferred
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lead and motivate employees in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite with strong Excel reporting capabilities
