Plant Salesperson - Merrifield Location

Job Summary
Greet customers entering the nursery, identify their plant needs, and make tailored suggestions based on their growing environment. Answer gardening questions, guide clients on planting and watering procedures, and facilitate the sales process by providing bar codes and coordinating plant pulls to the loading dock. Assist with deliveries and plantings, ensure the nursery remains neat, and manage customer phone calls and emails. Communicate effectively with sales staff, cashiers, loaders, and phone operators to maintain high customer service standards. This role requires standing or being physically active for extended periods, working outdoors in all weather, and lifting plants. Evening and weekend availability is needed during peak season.
Required Qualifications
- Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Positive, respectful, can-do attitude
- Knowledge of plant material and gardening
- Ability to work individually or in a team environment
- Ability to stand or be physically active for hours at a time
- Willingness to work outdoors, rain or shine
- Ability to lift and move plants
- Ability to work without close supervision
- Evening and weekend availability will be required during our peak season
Desired Qualifications
- A degree in horticulture, landscape design, business management, communications, hospitality or a related field is a plus
