Plant Safety Assurance Specialist

Job Summary
Conduct safety inspections across production areas, maintenance shops, and yard operations while monitoring mobile equipment like forklifts and cranes. Uncover hazards on the floor and escalate unsafe behaviors to leadership, then assist with incident investigations by gathering facts and documenting root causes. Maintain OSHA compliance by organizing Safety Data Sheets and records, and lead toolbox talks to orient new hires and reinforce proper PPE usage. Participate in safety committee meetings and support site-wide initiatives. The role requires frequent walking outdoors in varying weather, occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, and consistent use of full PPE including steel-toe boots and hearing protection. Approximately half the time is spent in the plant/field with exposure to noise, dirt, and fumes.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Basic understanding of workplace safety principles
- Attention to detail
- Strong observation
- Clear communication
- Ability to collaborate with employees at all levels
- Confident hazard recognition
- Basic Microsoft Word
- Basic Excel
- Email skills
- Trustworthy with confidential information
- Frequent walking in plant and yard settings
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Climb ladders and access elevated work areas
- Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
- Consistent use of required PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and gloves
