Job Summary
Conduct microbial identification in flower products and analyze microbial populations across cultivation locations to track trends and partner with QA on reporting frameworks. Design, implement, and optimize Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies while evaluating their impact on disease incidence and crop yield. Investigate plant stress symptoms to diagnose biotic and abiotic factors affecting performance, and lead Hop Latent Viroid testing strategies including sampling protocols and transmission pathway studies. Collaborate with biotech and breeding teams to develop pest- and pathogen-resistant cultivars and contribute to research on genetic resistance mechanisms. Maintain low microbial loads and minimize pathogen pressure across environments while establishing data-driven disease monitoring systems.
Required Qualifications
- PhD or MSc in Plant Pathology, Plant Biology, Microbiology, or related field
- 1-2 years of relevant experience, experience may come from field work through graduate school
- Experience with plant disease diagnostics and microbial identification techniques
- Familiarity with IPM strategies in controlled environments
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with molecular diagnostics (e.g., PCR-based pathogen/viroid detection) preferred
