Job Summary
Support the Shift Team Leader to operate the Energy Recovery Facility safely and efficiently on a rotating shift pattern, including weekends and public holidays. Monitor and control plant from the Central Control Room, operating equipment to meet operational demands. Assist with the boiler, generator, and auxiliary plant, performing first-line fault diagnosis, routine inspections, minor repairs, and data recording. Operate site equipment such as the refuse crane and mobile plant, while ensuring compliance with PPC Permit and safety systems. Manage stock levels and assist colleagues with consumables and residues. This role requires an NVQ or equivalent and strong mechanical/electrical plant experience, with a 40-hour rotating schedule. Required Qualifications
- Relevant NVQ (or equivalent)
- Strong interest in mechanical/electrical plant
- Engineering/plant operations experience
- Experience in a continuous process environment
- Confidence working within a shift-based operation
- IT literate
- Ability to record data accurately
- Ability to follow procedures/systems
- Safety-first approach
- Awareness of health & safety
- Awareness of environmental compliance (PPC/permit)
- Willingness and ability to operate fixed plant
- Willingness and ability to operate mobile equipment
- Willingness and ability to operate crane operations
- Self-motivated
- Dependable
- Able to prioritise tasks with minimal supervision
- Strong teamworking skills
