Job Summary
Monitor and control plant operations, inspect, maintain, and control process equipment, and perform mechanical maintenance throughout the facility. Maintain records of hourly operating data and abnormal conditions, ensure permit compliance, and produce high-quality product. Participate in training programs, perform general work including housekeeping activities, and enforce safety procedures while maintaining clean work areas. Perform fire guard duty and confined space watch. Work 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. night shift with ability to work varying shifts, overtime, holidays, and on-call duty. Recognize operational inconsistencies and hazards, read technical manuals, and operate fire protection equipment.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum 2 years' experience as operator or other process plant operations
- Strong mechanical & electrical aptitude
- Ability to work varying shifts, overtime, holidays, on call duty and emergency call-ins
- Ability to read and comprehend instructional manuals, instruction sheets, technical data, work orders and mechanical drawings in English
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the plant fire protection apparatus and systems
- Ability to operate all fire protection equipment
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of occupational hazards connected with machine shop and general plant practices with emphasis on the necessity of safety policy compliance
- Communication skills – verbal and written
- Ability to operate a computer
- Ability to perform basic math
