Job Summary
Perform basic maintenance and repair of hospital equipment, machinery, and physical structures. Execute groundskeeping tasks including mowing, snow removal, and landscaping. Assist skilled maintenance staff with complex repairs, manage trash and waste disposal, and drive light trucks for local pickups and deliveries. Ensure tools and equipment are properly stored, report repair needs and safety hazards to the supervisor, and follow all safety protocols. Respond to emergency maintenance calls and assist with after-hours work as needed. This role supports the upkeep of hospital grounds and facilities at Rice Community Health.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs)
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record for local deliveries
- Must be self-motivated
- Ability to work independently after successful completion of orientation
- Ability to follow instructions and work cooperatively with skilled tradespeople
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Basic understanding of maintenance tools and equipment
- Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Must be able to respond to emergency maintenance calls and assist with after-hours work as needed
- Must be able to work weekends or on-call shifts for emergency maintenance
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Previous experience in maintenance, groundskeeping, or related role is beneficial
