Job Summary
Plant Mechanic on the Facility Operations team responsible for maintaining and repairing hospital infrastructure, including steam/hot water boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and pumping systems, and for preventive maintenance and documentation. Operates and assists with plant utilities equipment, participates in energy management and conservation, maintains detailed shift logs, responds to maintenance and emergency calls, supports Fire Response Team activities, and may drive company vehicles to transport equipment. Role requires independent decision-making in a healthcare environment and interaction with staff, patients, physicians, vendors, and regulatory bodies. Shift schedule includes nights (10 PM–6:30 AM) and days (6 AM–2:30 PM) with applicable night differential; position is facility-based with no budgetary responsibilities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent plus vocational or technical training
- 1 year of experience as a Plant Mechanic
- working knowledge of utility and infrastructure systems and components common to healthcare environments
- ability to demonstrate basic to intermediate plant operations skills
- Boiler Operator License if required by state (e.g., Arizona)
- Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (if applicable)
- Arizona Criminal History Affidavit (upon hire)
- valid driver's license (may be required)
- ability to read and understand maintenance/construction documents
