Plant Manager - Wind

Job Summary

Manage day-to-day operations and maintenance of a utility-scale wind power plant, including development of the operating budget, outage coordination, and scheduling with the interconnect entity. Ensure strict compliance with environmental, health, and safety programs while overseeing crew training, assessments, and third-party contract administration. Lead capital improvement programs, retrofits, and warranty activities, preparing annual budgets, monthly profit and loss reports, and performance evaluations. Conduct root cause analyses of major failures and implement internal controls. *Note: This role is located in Encino, NM, with a base salary ranging from $131,000 to $145,800. Candidates must be able to climb 80-meter steel towers daily and work in adverse weather conditions.*

Required Qualifications

  • Four year college degree or technical school certificate; or 5 years of related experience or power industry training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated experience in power plant operations and maintenance
  • Ability to climb 80 meter steel towers on a daily basis to perform maintenance
  • Weight must not exceed 285 lbs (excluding equipment/gear) when performing job related tasks
  • Advanced computer skills utilizing word processing, spreadsheets, email, facility control, management and reporting systems, including the use of computerized diagnostic and troubleshooting tools
  • Ability to work around low and medium voltage and at times during extremely adverse weather conditions
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment required for facility maintenance with a working knowledge of crane and rigging requirements
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to navigate and succeed in a highly matrixed reporting structure, preferably at an international company
  • Strong prioritization and multi-tasking skills with the ability to operate in a complex, rapidly changing business environment with typically tight schedules and demanding targets
  • Ability to foster and participate in a productive team environment by establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with subordinates, co-workers, managers, customers, contractors, and vendors
  • Effectively provides and receives information orally in individual and group situations
  • Written expression is clear, concise, and conveys the desired message
  • Ability to analyze project risks and proactively identify solutions with a flexible, creative, and solution-focused outlook on problem solving

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience in wind plant operations and wind turbine experience
  • Experience in high voltage maintenance and switching
  • Experience establishing and improving preventative maintenance programs
  • Experience working with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
