Job Summary
Oversee daily plant operations across production, maintenance, warehousing, and quality to ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental laws. Develop processes maximizing ownership, safety, and productivity while reducing costs, partnering with Safety, Purchasing, Finance, and Engineering to drive continuous improvement. Direct Production and supervise Maintenance, HR, Sanitation, and Shipping teams to meet production goals and KPIs. Select and train supervisory staff, conduct performance reviews, and manage workforce retention through succession planning. Coordinate with the Master Production Scheduler for efficient line scheduling and work with the railroad on car switches to minimize demurrage charges. Maintain GMP and 5S standards in the back lot and warehouse, ensuring FIFO shipping and managing rework or held finished goods. Monitor plant costs, explain variances, and support capital planning to reduce risk and improve profitability.
Required Qualifications
- Ten years of progressive plant managerial experience in a food manufacturing environment
- 10+ years of relevant practical plant management experience
- Ability to communicate effectively with others orally or in writing
- Ability to inspire and motivate the manufacturing team through leadership and implementation of effective management tools
- Must possess excellent team management
- Ability to connect with employees and anticipate and resolve people-related concerns or issues
- Ability to work in a collaborative, indirect management structure
- Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
- Ability to make critical decisions while following company procedures
- Ability to organize and direct oneself and effectively supervise others
- Ability to accurately audit and control all necessary paperwork
- Position is required to work some irregular hours to provide oversight to all shifts
- Expectation is to spend time amongst all shifts
- This role may require longer hours or weekends on occasion
