Job Summary
Plant Manager responsibilities include coordinating with the District and officials to ensure district facilities are available for educational, administrative, and community use; monitoring, maintaining, operating, and troubleshooting all facility systems; scheduling, implementing, and supervising maintenance work programs; and submitting progress logs and reports as required. The role adheres to state and federal structural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire codes, implements safety and mandated programs, and requires travel and site oversight in extreme weather. Essential skills include supervisory leadership, facilities and maintenance management, boiler and pool systems knowledge, and proficiency with basic computer tools (MS Word, MS Excel, Email). Preference for Inupiaq language/cultural experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent required
- Valid Alaska Driver’s License required
- Public Management certified preferred
- Five years of supervisory experience required
- Boiler maintenance and troubleshooting experience required
- Pool certification required
- Five years construction trades or facilities maintenance management required
- Basic Computer Skills – including MS Word, MS Excel, Email, etc. preferred
