Job Summary
Oversee daily operations of a custom machining and fabrication facility, including scheduling production, assigning work, and monitoring workflow and labor utilization. Prepare accurate quotations for machined parts and assemblies by reviewing drawings and estimating labor, materials, and machining time. Support engineering activities by assisting with product design, reviewing manufacturability, and developing production processes and tooling solutions. Supervise a team of approximately 15 employees, fostering a positive environment while driving continuous improvement in quality, productivity, and safety. Serve as the primary contact for customers regarding project status, delivery schedules, and technical solutions, conducting occasional site visits to resolve issues.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5–10 years of manufacturing experience
- Previous experience managing or supervising production personnel
- Strong knowledge of machining, fabrication, tooling, and manufacturing processes
- Experience estimating and quoting custom manufacturing projects
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
- Working knowledge of machining operations including CNC and conventional equipment
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field; equivalent experience will also be considered
- Experience in a custom job-shop environment
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement principles
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP or manufacturing software is preferred
- CAD/CAM experience is a plus
