Job Summary
Perform general repairs on all company equipment including conveyors, screen units, crushers, and vibrating feeders. Operate mobile equipment safely and execute preventive maintenance tasks such as greasing, oil changes, and replacing belts and bearings. Conduct workplace exams, pre-shift, and post-shift inspections while adhering to all safety, environmental, and MSHA regulations. Assist welders and complete special projects as assigned. Maintain a neat shop environment and accurately complete all necessary paperwork.
Required Qualifications
- Possess a safe work history
- Have a positive attitude and proactive approach to our safety program
- Apprentice plant maintenance mechanic or plant oiler – still learning (1-year experience or less)
- Plant maintenance mechanic – knowledge and ability to properly perform basic plant maintenance to include but not limited to splicing conveyor belt, tracking conveyor belt, replacing conveyor idlers, pulleys and bearings, replacing V-belts, and replacing screen media
- Plant oiler – Knowledge and ability to properly perform basic plant preventive maintenance to include but not limited to proper greasing techniques, amounts and schedules, installing, repairing or replacing grease lines, oil changes in speed reducers, crushers, feeders and screen units, and proper oil sampling techniques
- Good safety, behavior and attendance record
- Willingness to do other work as needed, including heavy labor
- Willingness to work outside in all weather extremes
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including swing shift, graveyard shift, over time and weekends as required
- Ability to work near, around or on light or heavy equipment
- Lift objects of various dimensions and up to 75 lbs occasionally and 50 lbs frequently
- Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and ladders
- Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects
- Ability to use vibration producing tools frequently
- Ability to tolerate working outdoors in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions
- Ability to repeatedly reach, squat and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting
- Ability to frequently walk on uneven surfaces
- Excellent verbal, written and comprehension communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- Knowledge of automation software and diagnostics would be helpful but not required
