Job Summary
Plant Lab Pack Chemist I will perform a range of lab-pack duties and physical labor to ensure proper treatment and disposal of hazardous waste materials in line with Lab Pack policies, applicable regulations, and Clean Earth/Veolia procedures. Responsibilities include inventorying, identifying, segregating, and packaging waste; occasional on-site services such as waste collection, bulking, re-packaging, sampling, and safety/compliance inspections; preparing shipments with inspection, labeling, and loading; completing shipping documents and regulatory evaluations; enforcing Health & Safety/JSA procedures; submitting Lab Packs for third-party approvals; conducting unknown field testing for classification and packaging; mentoring new staff; and other duties as assigned. Requires a BS/BA in a science field, relevant lab-pack experience, OSHA HAZWOPER training, Depack/DOT training, PPE training, and ability to lift and move materials up to 55 lbs with occasional travel. The role sits within Veolia's North American operations and involves collaboration with Clean Earth teams and adherence to EPA, DOT, and safety regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Associate College degree in area of General Science or equivalent experience
- BS/BA in science related field
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER (29 CFR 1910.120)
- 40 hours Depack Experience
- 8 hours DOT Training
- PPE Training which includes Respirators
- Minimum one (1) year lab pack experience
- Clean driving record
- Occasional travel
- Basic understanding of chemistry through general chemistry or biology
- Advanced knowledge of EPA and DOT
