Plant Engineering Manager - Mill

Job Summary
Plant Engineering Manager leading the engineering team at a mill, partnering with operations to drive strategic planning for 5–15 year roadmaps, overseeing project development from conception to completion, developing construction specifications, bid packages, budgets, schedules, permitting, and ensuring timely delivery within budget. Manages recruitment, coaching, performance reviews, and task assignment; collaborates with operating departments on process upgrades, safety improvements, reliability, and ergonomics initiatives; leads annual CAPEX planning, reviews project designs for contract compliance, and supports R&D for new products and processes. Requires engineering leadership, AutoCAD (Inventor) and 3D modeling proficiency, SAP PS, Microsoft Project, Excel and Word proficiency, and strong analytical and communication skills to coordinate with management, staff, hourly employees, and contractors.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Five years' experience in equipment and/or facilities layout, basic process design, material handling design, or related field
- Willingness to travel occasionally
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, Auto-CAD (Inventor and 3D modeling are a plus), SAP PS and Microsoft Project
- Analytical skills
- Strong communication skills with staff and contractors
- Detail-oriented
- Ability to read detailed AutoCAD drawings
- Ability to modify drawings in AutoCAD
- Organizational skills for managing budgets and schedules
- Ability to plan and manage CAPEX processes
