Plant Engineer

Job Summary
Lead engineering projects from concept through commissioning, collaborating with production and maintenance teams to deliver sustainable improvements that reduce risk and enhance productivity. Specify, select, install, and decommission plant equipment and systems to support operational initiatives and compliance requirements. Design and implement upgrades to existing infrastructure to improve safety, reliability, and productivity while minimizing downtime. Actively engage on the shop floor to identify issues, provide practical engineering solutions, and support continuous improvement of plant equipment reliability. Ensure adherence to environmental regulations and demonstrate a 100% commitment to zero harm safety behaviors. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 5+ years of heavy industry experience and is based onsite at Plant 3 in Portland, OR, with some potential travel to other sites.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Industrial preferred)
- 5+ years of heavy industry plant engineering and project management experience
- Proven experience in heavy fabrication, foundry, or manufacturing engineering environments
- Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD systems
- Strong communication skills with a collaborative approach to working across cross-functional teams including maintenance and production managers
- Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors
- Some travel may be required to support other sites as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Familiarity with FEA
- Experience in steel foundry or metallurgical lab environments
- Additional certifications or training in project management or safety systems
- Exposure to environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives
- Ability to adapt and support multiple sites if demand arises
